21-26. May | Chamber Music Course „String Quartet Intensive“

21.-26. Mai | Malion Quartett | Kammermusikkurs "Streichquartett Intensiv"

We're offering a course!

How does playing together actually work? How do you go from 4 individual players to a group sound? How do you approach challenging chamber music literature?

During this intensive chamber music week, participants will have the opportunity to acquire or deepen the basics of playing together, gain new impulses and inspiration for their playing and discover chamber music from different eras.

Each ensemble receives daily lessons from the four musicians of the Malion Quartet. In evening workshops, special topics such as intonation or musical style from different eras will be explored together. The course is aimed at students and ambitious amateurs. Both permanent ensembles and individual participants are welcome. In addition to string quartets, we also welcome string duos, trios and quintets.

Prizewinners‘ Concert

“The composer Johannes Brahms once said that all he thinks about is music. He confessed: “I’m in love with music – I love music, I think of nothing but music and only think of other things when they make music more beautiful.” Such an unconditional and devoted love for music as Brahms probably felt, could also be experienced on Wednesday evening at the prizewinners’ concert of the ensemble scholarship…”

Haydn in Slow Motion – A Visit to a Rehearsal with the Malion Quartet

On 30th May 2022 the programme “Haydn in Slow Motion – A Visit to a Rehearsal with the Malion Quartet” was broadcast on Deutschlandfunk Kultur. Led by the music journalist Marie König, and recorded by Max-Lukas Hundelshausen in the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt, the idea was to condense the original concept from our festival into a 30 minute programme.
